Individual Therapy

Individual therapy, also known as one-on-one therapy or counseling, is a personalized form of mental health treatment where a client works directly with a therapist in a confidential setting. This type of therapy provides a safe space for individuals to explore their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors, gain insight into their challenges, and develop coping strategies to improve their emotional well-being. It is tailored to the unique needs of each person and can address a wide range of issues such as anxiety, depression, trauma & PTSD, stress, grief, addictions, out of control emotions, obsessive compulsive disorder, borderline personality disorder, relationship difficulties, navigating toxic relationships, life transitions, personal growth, and more. Individual therapy can often be supported by family therapy or couples counseling, depending on the needs of the household.

In individual therapy, the therapist uses various evidence-based techniques depending on the client’s goals and preferences, such as Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), parts work, Internal Family Systems (IFS), Trauma-Informed Stabilization Treatment (TIST), Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy (REBT), mindfulness-based approaches, and much more. The process helps individuals better understand underlying causes of their distress, change unhealthy patterns, and build resilience. It also fosters self-awareness, emotional regulation, and problem-solving skills. Individual therapy can be short-term or long-term, depending on the client’s needs, and often includes setting specific goals and tracking progress.

Overall, individual therapy empowers people to take control of their mental health, improve their quality of life, and work toward meaningful, lasting change in a supportive and confidential environment.
